After a 20 year career in banking industry Andrew Bardsley joined the public sector for the opportunity to build a better New Zealand. His private sector career highlights included introducing New Zealand's first flexible home-loan products and as head of retail lending division taking the National Bank from fifth to first in market share. In 2007, he then joined Inland Revenue as General Manager Strategy where he helped initiate the current IR transformation programme, one of the most significant in the public sector. Andrew became General Manager of the Result - Better for Business programme in 2014, a partnership of eight government agencies working to make it easier for businesses to deal with government. The programme is an advocate within government for the needs of business customers and in the past three years has supported a range of initiatives including the New Zealand Business Number and the Result 9 Business-Government Accelerator. Andrew believes New Zealand is a great country in which to live and work and is committed to the goal of creating better public services for citizens and businesses. Andrew lives in Wellington with his wife and four daughters and is an outdoor and endurance enthusiast, running the Paris marathon earlier this year, and having signed up for his first ultramarathon in February 2016.
